A taxi driver from the school, carrying a sign with your name, will drive you to the school, your host family or hotel of choice in Turrialba. The trip takes about 90 minutes.
School stay If you like to be independent, yet share with fellow students, we recommend staying at the school. We have rooms that can be shared by up to 2 students, but you if you don't mind paying a little more you can have your private room. The bathrooms are always shared. In all schools we have a kitchen available to the students. Furthermore, we offer a continental breakfast for $2.50.
Home stay Living with a local family is a unique experience that will provide you with the opportunity to not only learn the language but also explore the culture. Our host families have been carefully selected. The rooms are private and have shared bathrooms. Home stays include breakfast, dinner and laundry. Food is typical Costa Rican, nevertheless most families can adapt a little upon request (e.g. considering people's diets). If you don't use our pick-up service from the Airport of San José to Turrialba, you need to call the school to let us know at what time you will arrive in Turrialba so your host family can welcome you at the bus station in Turrialba.
Our casita (little house): In a typical Costa Rican neighbourhood, just a little bit outside of the busy centre of Turrialba (10 minutes by bus, 25 cent one way), we have a cosy little house with a living area (with television) , two bedrooms (one has a double bed and one has a single bed), bathroom, kitchen and little semi-open patio, where you could have your own space. There is a small store that sells basic necessities (fresh bread in the morning) almost next door, a public phone and buses about every 20 minutes to go to town pass by at 3 minutes walking. No luxury, but real Costa Rican and private!
Hotel stay There are various hotels in Turrialba to choose from. In the center of town, there is a budget hotel as well as a middle class hotel that we can recommend.
